Ep 36 | Changing Yourself By 1% Part 2The reason you can’t create behavior change or habit change in your life has nothing to do with you or your willpower. It has to do with your system. Having a goal isn’t enough to achieve the result. And the size of your goal doesn’t correlate with the size of your results. Instead, put your energy into building a system to support your success in your habits. You might have a system for reading each night before you go to bed. A system for when, how long, and where you exercise. Creating systems is the foundation to you implementing new behaviors and habits in your life. This is where you need to spend your energy—in the system. In this episode of the She Finds Joy podcast, learn why:It’s not about goals, it’s about systems. The problem isn’t your willpower; it’s your system. Are you creating an environment or ritual that sets you up for success?Breakthroughs come suddenly after repeating a system, not all at once while chasing a goal.Habits act like compound interest when it comes to getting results.Your outcomes directly correlate with the measure of the habits that you have in your life.Downloading a new set of beliefs changes your next right action. The trick isn’t to have massive willpower; the trick is to create an environment where it’s easier to make the right choices. This is your system. “You don’t rise to the level of your goals, you fall to the level of your systems.” James Clear, Atomic HabitsHelpful LinksHere’s the link to Atomic Habits, by James Clear.About KimKim Strobel is Chief Happiness Officer at Kim Strobel Live Events and Retreats. Ep 35 | Changing Yourself By 1%When it comes to change, you don’t need to take massive, gigantic action. You only need to implement tiny, 1% shifts in your life to grow yourself. Tiny habits are the compound interest of the self-improvement world. Human beings struggle to develop and maintain habits. We do things like work out like crazy for a week or so, and then stop completely. We go on a super strict diet where we eat like rabbits only, to find ourselves engulfing a chocolate cake by the weekend. We get so overwhelmed and “go all in” that we don’t realize the power of consistency and 1% changes. If you consistently do something, even in small things, it acts as compounding interest in your life. Tune in to hear Kim share:What money and compound interest have to do with your personal development goals. Why you are giving up on your goal too quickly and the profound power of consistency. How bite-sized habits work to create real change. Even if change isn’t noticeable, it’s creating a ripple effect that will pay off in the long-run.“The difference a tiny improvement can make over time is astounding. Here's how the math works out: if you can get 1% better each day for one year, you'll end up thirty-seven times better by the time you're done.” - James ClearAbout KimKim Strobel is Chief Happiness Officer at Kim Strobel Live Events and Retreats. Ep 32 | Using a Poison Pen Letter to Heal HurtsWhen we hold on to negative energy, it saps us of our creativity, health, and well-being. We let it steal our joy. We become so wrapped up in the wrong that was done to us that we can’t enjoy the present. When we hold onto unforgiveness, it can bring bitterness and anger into our experiences and relationships with others. “Holding onto anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.” BuddhaIn this episode, Kim discusses the effects of holding onto grudges when they are, in fact, quite painful to maintain:Why do we keep wounds open and active, living in past experiences of pain which prevent new experiences? What keeps us stuck when we want to move on? Why we all need to write a poison pen letter to release the people who have wronged us. In the end, we can free ourselves.
